This morning Don looks headed for the lower Texas coast forecast to make landfall south of Corpus Christi late tonight.  Max winds in Don are near 50mph and may top 60mph before making landfall.  The thing is, those strong winds are confined to a very small area near the center of Don so only the county  (Kennedy) that takes the center will feel sustained winds like that.

Here in Houston and southeast Texas the impacts will be minimal. We'll get scattered showers off and on all day but rain totals will average less than 1/2".  Winds will be out of the southeast at 10-15mph... nothing out of the ordinary.

The one danger spot will be the beaches.  Seas will build 4'-6' and create dangerous boating and SWIMMING conditions.  Rip currents will make the beaches dangerous for swimmers and a 'Rip Current' advisory is in effect for the coastal waters.
