Alex has emerged in the southern Gulf of Mexico. As of this morning its maximum sustained winds are 50mph with some higher gusts. Below are this mornings stats and the forecast track from the hurricane center. Right now, Houston/Galveston are not in the forecast cone... but it's close. So what should you be doing??? Make sure you have your hurricane supply kit ready, and if on the coast, know your evacuation route just in case the forecast track changes.
If the storm goes into northern Mexico we can expect an increase in rain chances and seas climbing to 4'-7' by mid week. If the storm moves into south Texas the Houston area and all of southeast Texas would have a significant flooding threat from heavy rain in some of the far outer rain bands. We will have to watch this threat carefully.
