Plenty to be grateful for this weekend as the oil leak in the gulf has been finally stopped. The flow of gulf moisture on the other hand continues and our increased rain chances reflect this change in the weather pattern for the weekend. The odds for rain will increase from 30% Saturday to as much as 40% Sunday. The last rain fell in Houston last Thursday, so a few showers are welcome for most yards and gardens around town.
A tropical wave will combine with July heat to enhance our rain chances beginning Saturday along the immediate coast. As the tropical moisture builds further West the ridge weakens just enough to keep storms firing up every afternoon until the first half of next week.
Today keep plenty of water and sun screen on hand as readings are expected to top out near 97 with heat index values beyond 100. Back yard pools and Texas beaches will be hopping.
