The rainfall Saturday evening was heaviest right in the heart of the city. Herman Park and the West University area had over 2 inches of rain in just a few minutes causing some brief street flooding. Lightning and 60mph winds all helped to cause power outages to some 10,000 Centerpoint service customers. This weeks forecast won't change much with daily afternoon downpours a common element. The coastal regions will pick up the first of these storms and as readings continue to climb inland the city will likely see the odds for rain rise to better than fifty percent for the next 48hrs. With July rainfall totals already at almost a foot of rain, this could be one off our wettest July's on record.
If your still enjoying a summer break the interior portion of the state will continue to be dry and hot. Your best bet this week is to head West to escape the daily showers summer will dish out along the gulf coast.
