The best rain chances in weeks are heading our way and rainfall estimates while not high are least more than just enough to settle the dust. Beginning Wednesday a quarter of an inch of rain is possible with another tenth by Thursday. Without this rain a portion of Harris county could slip into a slight drought status in the coming hot summer weeks. This is typically our driest period short of a tropical storm or hurricane which can sometimes bump us out of a drought.
The remnants of Agatha will drift into the western Caribbean and eventually into the gulf by midweek. Some of the rain from the remnants of Agatha are shown above in the Eastern gulf. It's a western short wave trough however, that increases our rain chances beginning Wednesday through Thursday with slightly cooler near normal temperatures to match.
Our rain chances are short lived as another major ridge shifts out of the Western states for the up coming weekend which should result in a return of mid to upper 90 degree temperatures.
