What a difference a year makes. Instead of dying trees and roasted lawns we've got growing trees and green grass thanks to a wet weather pattern that promises to stick around all week long. Looking at rain totals from Sunday shows most spots in Harris county picked up a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain. However, some spots had heavy downpours, like Pasadena, with a rain total of almost 3.5" that came down in about two hours and caused some street flooding. Again today, most spots will get less than a quarter inch of rain, but some spots may get an inch or two with street flooding, gusty winds and small hail being the severe threats today. About a month ago I finally put in some new sod in places in my yard that died out last summer. Then it got hot and dry and I was getting a bit worried that my new sod $$$$$ would die. This wet pattern has come just in time to save my investment. This will also help all the new trees planted in parks across the area. Thank you mother nature for not repeating last years killer drought.
