June heat has taken over this weekend with record highs reported in a few west Texas cities Saturday. A few showers will quench the heat Sunday along the upper gulf coast as a low pressure center emerges over south central Texas and hangs around through the middle part of next week. This should help draw considerable moisture into the area and bring some welcome rain to area early next week. A few storms are expected to pop Sunday with more expected by Monday in the Houston metro area.
The sea breeze and additional moisture will lead to a few showers Sunday, according to the microcast forecast.
An upper low sets up again like last week just to the West of the upper gulf coast area leading to a better chance for rain next week. The steering currents will be weak under the ridge so the low will hang around till at least mid week. Looking at the drought index for the 1st of June the rain comes just in the nick of time.
