The atmosphere this Wednesday morning is in the process of changing. Today and into the weekend there will be more warm air at the mid levels of the atmosphere and less upward motion. This means fewer clouds, lower rain chances and higher afternoon temps. Also, because the soil moisture content is so high right now, surface dew points will remain high. This means it will be VERY humid and heat indexes will reach between 102 and 107, especially near the coast. The past couple of sunny days have resulted in heat indexes on the Galveston beaches near 110. That's dangerous, so if your heading down to the Kemah boardwalk or Pleasure Pier, take water and get in the A/C often to stay cool.
