Winter weather is coming. Your heater or furnace will likely come on numerous times this week. When was the last time you had your furnace checked? Your Winter checklist should include a check of your furnace and space heaters before you fire them up.  The good news is that the temperatures will likely not get cold enough to wrap your pipes, but its nice to have the pipe wrap around just in case.

A look at the readings Monday night on our graphic shows areas within the white line will be below 32 degrees. You don't have to wait until Monday night for the big chill as gusty winds Monday will cause wind chill readings in the 30s. You might need a few extra layers of clothing both Mon and Tues.  First freeze warning likely Monday night and Tuesday night for most of southeast Texas except Galveston Island. Temperatures could be below freezing for 3 - 5 hours Monday night and again Tuesday night.

Check in for the latest on KHOU-11 news on this Polar outbreak.
