The steady rain that began late Monday carried on into the Tuesday rush hour, making it more like a mush hour. The front bringing the wet weather actually slowed down, helping to increase the amounts. Here's what our Weather Bug network captured:
Officially, Bush airport picked up .33" and Hobby .72". Those both help December rainfall to appear more normal, but we're still a long way from erasing the 25" deficit that's been building this year due to the drought. So far, Bush airport has seen nearly 2" of rain; a typical December registers nearly 4". We'll see another round of rain Thursday that should add to December's tally. A final batch of the wet stuff could also arrive either on Christmas Day or shortly thereafter.
Due to the rain, the Harris County fire marshal has lifted the outdoor burn ban. Outdoor cooking may still be banned in your favorite park, but check with your local county commissioner on that.
