Radar is lightning up this afternoon. Numeous heavy thunderstorms have moved into Wharton and Matagorda counties Saturday. Rainfall amounts have been as high as 4" since noon according to the National Weather Service. KHOU's weatherbug netwoork has also detected heavy rain in the Harris county by mid-afternoon.
These showers are forming near an upper level disturbance and are tracking mainly North out of the first tier of coastal counties. Some of the storms may intersect this afternoon giving us the possibility of a few stronger cells that might produce some funnel clouds. If you are near these storms please take cover or head to the inner most portion of your home. KHOU's live doppler radar is tracking the skies for severe weather and we will post warnings as needed this afternoon. Here is an interactive radar link to keep up with the changing weather this afternoon.
