A strong upper level system and a surface low forming along the coast will provide the energy for the heavy overnight rainfall. Rainfall amounts are very impressive given the scant moisture at the low levels available Saturday evening. One to three inch rain amounts have been consistent from run to run. The latest microcast run starts to dry us out by the afternoon. . .

Cold gusty winds will continue to blow as the surface low drifts out to into the gulf Sunday afternoon. Afternoon temperatures will feel like the upper 30s to low 40s as the winds gust to 30mph at times. We will likely miss the ice and snow the Eastern gulf coast states will endure this week. . .

This is just the beginning of a very cold week with highs well below normal for the first half of the week.

This is a good time to make sure your furnace and space heaters are in good working order. They will get a good workout this week. Stay Warm.
