Sunday December 2, Texas had the warmest weather in the US - 88 degrees at Alice, Harlingen and La Grange, TX. Houston's high of 83 Saturday and 84 Sunday were records. Today's record of 85 degrees is going to be close, but chances are extra clouds and a few showers will break the streak of December warmth .
As far as rainfall goes, it may not be much (.10"), but Houston finally has a shot at some measurable rain. The heaviest rain will fall from the Ohio, Tennessee and lower Mississippi valleys. This begins late Tuesday and Wednesday morning as a cold brings some temporary relief from the muggy air. After seeing the sixth driest November on record, at well under an inch, it's about time, we need it. I'm keeping my sprinkler on, how about you ?
Here's a rainfall animation of the approaching storm. . .
