Rainy weather today in a few spots with the heaviest showers in Montgomery county. Places like Conroe received over 2.10" of rain during the afternoon. Morning thunderstorms brought measurable rain to Deer Park, Winnie, Bolivar, Pasadena, and Galveston.
The June sunshine had many of these areas parched. So the rain was a cool and welcome sight, even if it did fall on a Father's Day weekend. We're not done yet though as an upper level disturbance in the gulf heads right for us early this week. Chances for rainfall should be enhanced for a few days. The major player in heavy rainfall is a possibly developing tropical cyclone in the Southern Gulf near Mexico late this week.
KHOU-11 as well as KHOU.com will be monitoring the tropics all week and have coverage 24/7. Please log in to KHOU.com's Hurricane Central for the latest on this developing threat.
