A couple of things are coming together to give Houston and southeast Texas a better chance for thunderstorms today and Thursday. An upper level disturbance will move across our area later today and tomorrow. This will help lift the atmosphere and could result in some strong thunderstorms.
Also, I'm seeing more in the way of scattered showers in our near shore Waters this morning. It indicates to me that the atmosphere near us is a bit more unstable and once we get hot this afternoon, we will see those coastal showers move and develop inland.
Here's a look at the radar this morning with the scattered showers off the coast.
