A hard freeze watch is already up from 10pm Tuesday to 10am Wednesday. This watch may be upgraded and repeated through Friday morning depending on the severity and time the cold air lingers. A reinforcing shot of cold air and an upper level disrturbance arrives Friday. It will provide the necessary lift for a slight chance of seeing some of the white stuff even here in Houston. If we get enough moisture ahead of this system that is.
Winter storm watches are up for much of North Texas. With the potential for 2" - 4" of measurable snow and subzero temperatures for much of the panhandle. Single digit readings are possible even in the northern parts of the state. To make matters worse winds of 20mph to 30mph will drive wind chill readings from 15-20 below zero beginning tonight and Tuesday morning. Most of the snow will move out of the panhandle Tuesday afternoon.
