A chilly Arctic blast reigns in a lengthy cold period for the gulf coast starting this Tuesday. The cold blast forces rain and gusty winds across the Bayou city Tuesday morning. The mercury will fall below freezing for at least four mornings this up coming week. Galveston also has a shot at frosty numbers Wednesday and Thursday for up to 4 hours. Day time highs will stay in the 40s for the second half of the work week.
A strong upper low over West Texas sets up the potential for some frozen precipitation Wednesday - Thursday. The only missing ingredient is moisture right now. This is something we will monitor from day to day this week. The potential for hard freeze conditions this week are reason enough to prepare for winter weather.
