The tropics are continuing to heat up as we head into the peak of hurricane season. We've been watching this specific wave for over a week now .
As you can see the recon planes looked for a closed circulation and also gathered data about the wind speed. At this point, it is still a tropical wave. However, hurricane hunters will return tomorrow so we may have a tropical depression or even Tropical Storm Harvey. If so, it would be our 8th named storm of the season.
It has a westerly track through the Caribbean and most models are showing it moving towards Central America. So we're not expecting any local impact, at this time.
