It pours. That's what happened today in advance of the 4th and strongest cold front so far this fall. Along with the pouring rain and lightning this evening, we had a possible tornado near the airport. HD Doppler caught this sight around 5:30 pm:
Here it is in 3-D:
What HD Doppler is seeing are the twisting, turning winds inside the storm. Green colors indicate winds coming toward the radar, red colors indicate winds moving away from the radar. "When a green meets red - get under the bed". That's one way to think of it and its a sign that there could be a tornado with that storm.
As of this writing, I don't have any confirmation of damage, but the storm looked impressive on radar and from Air 11.
Now that the storms have moved out, it's going to get pretty chilly. By Friday, we'll see our first foray into the 40s this fall.
