As you can see as of March 3 most of the viewing area is abnormally dry with extreme drought impacting the Austin-San Antonio area.
Today over 20% of the state is seeing extreme drought conditions. If we don't get rain soon the drought will be approaching historic proportions. The dry conditions for our neighbors to the West in Austin and San Antonio have been exceeded only once before in Texas - the drought of 1917-18. The burn ban continues for Harris county as well as 167 other counties
in the state.
Help could be on the way from mother nature this week if the area gets the two inches outlined by the National Weather Service in its long range outlook.
