Not only did the weekend rain cancel the the first leg of the BP MS 150, it also ended the drought along a good stretch of the upper gulf coast. As of April 19th both Bush and Hobby airports have seen over a foot of rain. Below are some of the incredible totals the gulf coast has seen:

________Since Jan 1_______Normal________April 17_____April 18
Bush---------12.03"------------12.18"------------1.90"------------2.98"
Hobby-------12.54"------------12.56"------------2.64"------------5.15"
Pearland--------------------------------------------1.29"------------6.65"
Sugar Land-----------------------------------------0.49"------------3.25"
League City (NWS)--------------------------------1.77"------------7.88"

Record daily maximum rainfall records where set at Bush Airport on Friday April 17 and at Hobby Airport on Saturday April 18. As well as the fourth wettest day in April at Hobby Airport.

The two day rainfall total along the Colorado river basin North of Columbus was near 14". Clover Field in Pearland reported 1.33" of rain in just 12 minutes. The Harris county flood control gage at Clear Creek and FM 528 measured 6.02" of rain in one hour. These rainfall rates approach tropical storm and hurricane levels not seen since Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricane Ike.

While the rain helped many farmers and ranchers in the state this weekend. the drought continues for the Southern part of the state. Austin and San Antonio continue to see rainfall deficits of about an inch and half for this year.
