A shift in the ridge as promised early in the week has taken hold for our weekend. The squirrels may have to hold off on sun bathing and replace the sunscreen with an umbrela. A hint that the the weather pattern was getting back to a normal summer pattern was the site of rain early Friday morning near the Bryan College Station area. This rain started in the Dallas area and moved down I-45 towards the Brazos river valley. Two to three inches of rain was observed in Madison county just East of Bryan. Bryan missed the heavy rain recording only a trace Friday morning so the drought goes on. It's possible that if it rains, College Station could see its string of 54 dry days in a row end this weekend. The Houston Galveston area may also see some measurable rain for most of the weekend as seen below. Rainfall totals for the weekend could average a half inch of rain per day starting Friday thru Sunday as a weak cool front will slowly weaken just North of Houston and provide the focus of storm development.
