zzzHoustonSolarTour_Corr.JPG Looking for something to do after the Komen Foundation event Saturday morning. If you still have some energy left check out the number of homes and businesses that are using solar energy to offset their use of electricity. The event begins at 9am-11am at Discovery Green Park with a Solar Social. The park it self utilizes 250 solar panels to produce 35% of the park's energy needs. The solar tour begins at 11am - 5pm. It is a self guided tour that begins where you want it to. Most of the homes and businesses on the tour are located inside the beltway. Logon to www.HoustonSolarTour.org to see over twenty homes and commercial applications of solar technology. The Houston Solar Tour is part of a national tour sponsored by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). The tour will help create an awareness of solar energy and the potential for energy savings by using renewable energy sources. The city of Houston is also expanding its use of solar panels in many of its buildings and is show cased at its Code Enforcement Building location on the tour.
