HOUSTON -- Federal authorities say two men have entered guilty pleas for 2009 robbery attempts on armored trucks in the Houston area that left two guards with gunshot wounds.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Walter Keitric Freeman of Houston and 46-year-old Allen Moore Jr. of Dallas admitted guilt in court Friday.
One guard was shot in August 2009 after he had filled a bank ATM with money. Another guard was shot in November 2009 while at a check-cashing store. The suspects made off with money in the second robbery. Both guards later recovered from their wounds.
Freeman and Moore pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm during the commission of a crime, among other charges. They’re scheduled to be sentenced July 10.
Three other defendants, all from Houston, previously entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing.
