Sugar Land woman admits she stole $674,000 from NRG

HOUSTON – A Sugar Land woman prison after stealing $674,000 from NRG Energy, her former employee.

Dorothy J. Samuel-Harris, 43, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud Monday in a federal courtroom in Houston.

In her guilty plea, Samuel-Harris admitted that she transferred payments from an NRG vendor into her private bank account back in 2008.

The Secret Service launched an investigation and Samuel-Harris was charged.

She will be sentenced in July.

A conviction for wire fraud carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
