RICHMOND, Texas – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two women accused of stealing a big chunk of change from unattended cash registers at Walmart.

It happened on June 7 around 7:45 p.m. at the Walmart in the 5300 block of FM 1640 in Richmond.

Police said surveillance video shows the suspects standing in a checkout line, holding shirts. While they’re waiting, one of the women is seen covering an unattended register cash drawer with the shirt she was holding. After that, she unlocked the drawer and took all the large bills, police said.

Investigators said the second woman appeared to be a lookout.

After the money was taken from the first register, police said the women went to a second register and repeated the process.

They got away with more than $2,300.

Walmart told investigators that only managers had keys to the registers, and none of the keys was reported missing from the Richmond location.

Anyone with information on this case or the suspects’ identities is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 281-342-2849 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.

Tips can also be submitted online at fortbend-tx-crimestoppers.org or via text – just text "FBCCS" plus your tip to 275637.

Information leading to the arrest and filing of charges against these suspects could earn a cash reward of up to $5,000.
