Police release sketch of suspect wanted for shooting, killing South Houston man

HOUSTON—Crime Stoppers and the South Houston Police Department are trying to determine who shot and killed George Segura on January 30, 2011.

South Houston police said Segura and his girlfriend were sitting in a car outside their home in the 1000 block of Washington Street around 5:21 a.m.

They noticed a man wearing a black hoodie jacket and dark pants standing in the roadway. Police said the two thought the man was acting strangely.

The next time they saw the suspect, he was standing at the passenger side door of their vehicle with a gun. The suspect shot at them, striking Segura in the head and his girlfriend in the right arm. The suspect then fled north on Austin Street, according to police.

Segura died seven days later.

The suspect is only described as a male wearing a black hoodie-type jacket and dark pants. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for any information called in to the 713-222-8477 tips hotline or submitted online that leads to the arrest or filing of felony charges in this case.
