HOUSTON -- Authorities are conducting their annual check of registered sex offenders to make sure they are following the rules.

Sex offenders cannot participate in any type of Halloween activities. They are not allowed to have their light on, give out candy, put out pumpkins or anything that would attract children.

“It's not about harassing anybody, we just want to make sure we work together to make it safer for our children,” said Pct. 6 constable Victor Trevino.

Precinct 6 has a higher number of sex offenders than the average in the rest of Harris County.
