HOUSTON – A Houston man is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend with a liquor bottle and kidnapping her 2-year-old child.
Jerome Taylor has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault of a family member. His bail was set at $40,000.
According to court documents, Taylor’s ex-girlfriend was at his sister’s house in the 11800 block of Ironstone because of a death in the family.
Police said the woman was waiting for his sister to return home when Taylor came inside the house. According to a witness, the two began arguing over something Taylor saw on her phone the night before.
Police said Taylor then pulled out a handgun from his pocket and pointed it at her saying, “I’m going to kill you and then myself.”
Taylor then put his gun back in his pocket and walked in the other room.
That’s when Taylor’s ex-girlfriend grabbed her 2-year-old daughter and ran to her car. She put the baby into her car seat and was trying to leave when Taylor came outside. He then grabbed her by her hair and jacket and tried to pull her back into the house.
When the woman told Taylor her baby was inside the car, Taylor said he didn’t care. Taylor pulled her back into the house, grabbed a liquor bottle and began to hit her on the legs, according to court documents.
Police said Taylor then ran outside and drove away knowing the child was still inside the car.
