LA MARQUE, Texas — A robbery suspect offered an apology Wednesday before he drew a handgun and pointed it at a cellphone store clerk, authorities said.
A young man, described as white and wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jean pants, entered the Cricket store, 1000 FM 1764, at 2:42 p.m. and apologized to the clerk, La Marque police Sgt. Shawn Spruill said.
"He tells the clerk he’s sorry that he has to do this," Spruill said. "‘Give me the money.’"
The man brandished a small handgun, but authorities were working to identify what kind, Spruill said. The clerk handed over money from the register, and the man ran away with $1,100, Spruill said.
