HOUSTON – A man was charged with child endangerment following a custody dispute Monday in north Houston.
Police said the child’s father, Brandon Demontray Shepard, barricaded himself inside an apartment located in the 5500 block of Holley View Drive and wouldn’t let the mother inside.
When police arrived and tried to get Shepard to open the door, he jumped off the balcony with the baby and took off running to another complex, police said.
Police officers found Shepard hiding behind a dumpster with the baby. Crews with the Houston Fire Department checked the baby and found the child was not harmed.
“The baby was returned to the mother,” said Officer Chris Wood. “It all worked out great.”
Shepard’s bail was set at $2,000.
