HOUSTON—A Harris County homeowner caught a suspected arsonist in the act late Wednesday night, investigators said.
According to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, the homeowner was smoking a cigarette on his porch in the 400 block of Antelope Drive, when his dogs started barking.
When he went to investigate, he saw a man running from the side of his house.
The owner chased the man and caught him a few houses down, but he was unable to hold him until deputies could get there.
Deputies found the suspect, later identified as Jeremiah Kellar, around 11:30 p.m. just a few blocks from the scene.
"The homeowner identified Kellar as an ex-roommate," said Investigator Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Keller was arrested and charged with arson to a habitation.
