HOUSTON – A former Houston police offer was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty Friday to theft by a public servant.

Darrin D. Thomas, 45, was caught stealing $700 during an internal affairs investigation in 2010.

According to investigators, Thomas was called to a hotel to perform a search -- $2,315 was found. He left the room, returned to his vehicle and completed his paperwork.

At that time, proactive units found that about $700 was missing.

Thomas admitted to taking the money and was arrested at the scene.
