HOUSTON – A woman accused of defrauding an elderly Fort Bend County resident turned herself in Friday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said.
Joycelyn Dearmon works in the Houston area as a caregiver to elderly people. She had been indicted for forging checks belonging to the 89-year-old elderly man under her charge as a caregiver, deputies said.
Detective said in August the victim’s son contacted them and said he was going over his father’s bank statement when he observed several checks that had cleared that his father said he did not write.
Over the span of a month, seven checks totaling $7,000 were written to the same person, Dearmon, deputies said.
