HOUSTON – A 19-year-old Deer Park man is facing charges for allegedly persuading a teenager to send nude photos of herself to his cell phone and then using the photographs to threaten her.
Mitchell Thomas McDermott is charged with possession of child pornography.
According to the Pasadena Police Department, McDermott convinced the girl, who was 14 at the time, to take nude photos of herself and send them to him on June1, 2011.
The girl told police she complied, but once McDermott got the photos he told her she had to engage in certain sex acts with him, or he would post the photos on the Internet.
The girl said she told her older brother, who was able to get the phone from McDermott with the photos still on it.
Investigators analyzed the images on the phone and said the victim was able to pick out the photos she’d sent to the suspect.
Charges were filed on June 18.
