HOUSTON—Someone is working their way all across the Houston area, cutting fiber optic wires that belong to Comcast.

That vandalism means tens of thousands of customers have lost service.  Each time the lines have been cut, about 60,000 customers have lost their phone, Internet and television service.

The cables that have been severed have absolutely no resale value—so it appears to be simply the work of vandals.

Investigators said it has happened six times in the last two months. It’s possible that whoever is doing it pulls up in a pickup truck and tries to look official.

Most of the damage seems to take place during the overnight hours.

When service is disrupted, it can take technicians close to a day to bring things back online.

Authorities are reaching out to the public for help because, at this time, they have absolutely no leads.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $30,000 reward. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.
