HOUSTON—Houston police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man at 1308 Clay #216 about 2:30 p.m. on August 13, 2009.
Larry Earl Britt II, 26, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. The victim, James Murrell, 38, of Houston, suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said an employee of the Athens Hotel found the manager of the hotel deceased in one of the rooms. Officers responded to the location and found the victim had been stabbed several times. Evidence from the scene determined a struggle had occurred in the room and at least one other person was present when the victim was killed. A witness stated he saw an unknown male suspect yell up at a second floor window of the hotel, throw a brick through the window and then run southbound on Caroline Street.
Further information was obtained that identified Larry Earl Britt II as a suspect in this case. He is homeless and is known to sometimes stay in homeless shelters in or near downtown Houston.
