HOUSTON – Investigators with the Cold Case Unit at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help solving a 20-year-old New Year’s Eve murder.
On Dec. 31, 1990, Tilmer Avery, 46, was at his apartment in the 700 block of Richcrest Dr. in north Harris County, celebrating with family.
Around 10:30 p.m., investigators said four men with guns forced their way into the apartment, ransacked the place and fatally shot Avery.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark pickup truck.
