HOUSTON – Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit need the public’s help tracking down a suspect in a New Year’s Eve murder.
Louis Rojas, 24, has been charged in the shooting death of Louis Ernesto Lopera.
Lopera, 41, was found mortally wounded in the 18000 block of Widcombe Drive in west Harris County around 5:30 p.m. on December 31, 2011.
Investigators said Lopera was shot multiple times and died at the hospital later that day.
Deputies at the scene learned that the ex-husband of Lopera’s wife had been at the home to talk to his ex-wife about their 5-year-old daughter.
During that visit, the ex-husband – identified as Rojas – shot Lopera and fled, according to investigators.
Anyone with information on Rojas’ whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477 or HCSO Homicide at 713-967-5810.
