HOUSTON—A former postal worker pleaded guilty Friday to theft of public money.
Rodney Niel Harvey, 35, worked out of the Roy Royall Postal Station in the 4200 block of Little York in Houston.
On June 30, prosecutors said a masked man came into the station and stole the bank deposit for the day.
The robber was later identified as Harvey, and he was arrested on June 3.
Police recovered the mask, clothes and shoes worn by Harvey during the robbery -- as well as the bank deposit -- in a wooded area near the postal station.
Agents later determined the deposit contained $15,289 in cash and $299.20 in checks and money orders.
Harvey will be sentenced on Oct. 13, 2010. He faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
