TEXAS CITY, Texas—Two Texas City residents were arrested Thursday and charged with possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone.
Dickinson and Texas City police, along with the DEA, served a narcotics search warrant at a home Thursday in the 6900 block of Anderson, which is a block from Simms Elementary School.
The officers said they found almost 13 ounces of pot inside.
Marina Leon and Justin Murray, both 29, were taken into custody and charged.
Leon was being held on $20,000 bond. Murray was being held on $60,000 bond.
The drug-free zone makes the charge a third-degree felony, punishable upon conviction by two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
