KATY, Texas – Six suspects are in custody after they were caught using illegal gift cards to purchase diesel fuel at a Katy gas station.
Jose Arrebola, Escobar Blanco, Jose Errebola-Bauza, Alexis Perez-Ortiz, Roberto Perez and Norberto Malaga-Fonseca were all charged with credit card abuse.
Katy Police said the suspects bought ordinary gift credit cards at a grocery store and used a special device to re-encode the cards with information from a credit union in Tampa, Florida.
They then used the illegal cards to purchase over $400 worth of diesel fuel at a Murphy’s gas station in Katy.
Police said they were caught with 40 gift cards upon their arrest.
Theyre all being held in custody on $250,000 bond.
