HOUSTON – A Nigerian man was stripped of his U.S. citizenship after a sentencing hearing Monday for convictions of conspiracy to commit marriage fraud, naturalization fraud, and making a false statement to a federal agency and marriage fraud, United States Attorney José Angel Moreno said.

Ibraheem Adeneye, 33,  was convicted of the charges earlier this year by a jury’s verdict and has been in federal custody in relation to these charges for approximately six months.

He is now subject to deportation upon release.

United States District Judge Kenneth Hoyt sentenced Adeneye to a term of imprisonment equal to the time he has served in custody.
