HOUSTON -– All lanes of San Felipe Street east of the Galleria have reopened following a 10-day construction closure.
The popular roadway was closed at the railroad tracks east of Mid Lane on Sept. 23.
The Harris County Flood Control District said a 50-year-old bridge was demolished and replaced, and crews worked extended hours to “expedite completion and minimize inconvenience.”
It was initially said the project could take up to two weeks.
The San Felipe bridge replacement was part of the Flood Control District's $13.2 million “Channel Enclosure Project,” which rebuilt and enclosed a poorly functioning drainage channel.
