Every week, we hit the streets to fix your traffic problems, and many of those headaches are caused by bumpy railroad crossings.  This week, viewers lead me to a crossing in East Houston.  Several tracks run through this area, but one of the bumpiest spots was at Lawndale and Evergreen.  One viewer sent in a complaint about uneven tracks at the crossing, so we checked it out.

We took the complaint to Union Pacific, the railroad comapny which maintains that area.  Representatives say they rely on drivers to help them identify which tracks need the most work.  After hearing from us, Union Pacific took special equipment to the site to smooth out the rail.  Crews also added asphalt to the lawndale-side of the crossing.

Store owners around here say any improvement will help business in the area.  Rosie Garcia manages La Victoria Bakery, less than a half a mile away from the crossing.  "I think any repairwork is positive for the community, as long as they keep the thoroughfares clear," she told 11 News.
