If you use MetroRail Services, there will be a closure for the following three weekends that will affect your commute. Metro, in conjunction with Texas Children's Hospital will suspend rail service to allow for continued construction on the hospital's "miracle bridge" over Fannin. The multi-level pedestrian bridge will connect the hospital's new maternity building to the main hospital campus.
Rail service will be unavailable the following dates and times:
Friday, Jan. 7 at 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, Jan. 9 at midnight
Friday, Jan. 14 at 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, Jan. 16 at midnight
Friday, Jan. 21 at 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, Jan. 23 at midnight
Rail customers can use shuttle buses running parallel to the rail lines both north and south every six minutes between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Patrons who board from platforms at the Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo or Dryden/TMC can find the shuttle bus on Main Street for travel north and southbound. METRO representatives will be available to assist patrons. Passengers who board METRORail at the Main Street Square platform can also catch the shuttle bus at Main and Walker (northbound) and Main and Dallas (southbound).
Customers travelling on the shuttle bus are advised to allow extra time (about double) for the trip. Normal rail service will resume Monday mornings following the closures.
