Jose Rojas drives the Katy Freeway every day and every night. He emailed us to let us know that his drive had become a lot more dangerous because the overhead lights were not function along I-10 between Highway 6 and Park Ten. Rojas says occasionally he missed his exit because he couldn’t see. “Sometimes I didn't see the sign, I didn't see the letters because it is really dark," he explained. According to drivers, the lights had been out for several weeks.
Because this is such a busy stretch of roadway in West Houston, we immediately sent Rojas’s concern to the Texas Department of Transporation. "If you don't have the lights, you are in a bad situation, and you could have an accident," Rojas said. Within a week, crews were able to make repairs and restore the lights along the freeway. "I'm really happy because it's not only for me, it's for everybody."
