HOUSTON—Traveling around town this weekend could be a little tricky, if you don’t know which areas to avoid. Be aware of closures this weekend near Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Also, in the Katy area, watch out for a total closure of I-10.
Medical Center:
Fannin Street will be closed, both northbound and southbound, near Holcombe to allow for continued construction of the Texas Children’s Hospital’s "Miracle Bridge" over Fannin. The barricades will be in place from 9 p.m. on Friday until Sunday at midnight. The northbound detour will take you to Holcombe and Main. The southbound detour will take you to Dryden and Main. METRORail will also be suspended in this location during this time. Bus service will be provided along the rail route, but expect delays. For more information, look on Metro’s website.
Katy Freeway:
I-10 main lanes will be closed between Mason Road and Fort Bend County Road to allow for continued construction of the direct connectors (flyovers) at I-10 and the Grand Parkway (SH-99). Eastbound lanes will be closed between Friday 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 p.m. Westbound lanes will close at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday. Traffic will be detoured onto the feeder road lanes.
