The US-59 Eastex freeway northbound connector ramp to the 610 North loop westbound (Northeast Houston) is closed after a major tanker truck fire early Sunday morning. The fire caused extensive damage to the direct connector which will require the Texas Department of Transportation to keep the ramp closed while repairs are made. The connector ramp damage includes bridge deck spalling and spalling to the concrete guard rail on both sides. Because it takes several days to "cure" the concrete, the ramp is expected to remain closed through the end of the week, weather permitting.
Beat the Traffic Alternates: take US-59 northbound to 610 eastbound, u-turn at Lockwood, OR take I-45 NB to 610.
