CYPRESS, Texas – The animals at a Cypress animal shelter are still being cared for by volunteers Thursday night after the shelter’s owner was arrested.
Animal advocates called the Humane Society after learning that Heather Schmidt, owner of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, was arrested on DWI charges.
This was the latest in a string of recent problems for the shelter.
In January, a fire forced the animals out into the cold. In April, a horse got loose and was hit by a truck.
Officials who investigated the facility said the animals are in good condition and are being cared for by volunteers.
